Of plans and wrenches
Of plans and wrenches Even the best plans catch a snag every now and then...
But this is more like a ridiculous pissing-contest with fate.

This road aint big enough for the both of us...
This road aint big enough for the both of us... Laos roads are like the wild west... There are laws, but if your big enough you can ignore them. And if, in the proccess a few motorcyclists get shredded... that is live.

About pots and potholes in Lao´s PDR
About pots and potholes in Lao´s PDR Driving through Laos the first thing that you see is lots of Chinese trucks.
But when leaving the truck-routes and entering the country-side, local life is amazing and makes up for the long curvy potholed roads.

Long necks, Short legs and Big ears
Long necks, Short legs and Big ears There are many so called “Hill Tribes” in Thailand. Mostly refugees from Myanmar, Tibet and even Mongolia.
They often wear typical traditional dress and some of them have very special characteristics.

Does that sound like something we would be interested in? Yes it does!

The highest peak
The highest peak Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand. It is also the coldest place in Thailand. And, it has the steepest roads and sharpest hairpin-curves in Thailand.
What better place to test the abilities of our Little Boat?

The Little Boat sprung a leak
The Little Boat sprung a leak Back from the painter.
They had used the wrong color, did a really shitty job and handed over our "home on wheels" covered in dust, polishing debrees and remains of masking-tape.

But. we had plans and did not care to wait and battle the windmills,
so we set sail towards the ... ehh...  not so well known.

Work work work...
Work work work... It is 34 degrees outside and there is not a single breeze. I wish I was outside, but I am inside the Little Boat... or is it hell on wheels? It sure feels like it.

Work in progress
Work in progress The Little Boat is home, but now the work only starts. Lots of things are broken, extremely dirty or just not there.
But, it is all part of the fun... well, most of the time... well, sometimes, when it´s not 35 degrees in the shade.

Buying "the Little Boat"
Buying "the Little Boat" We had planned to build our own camper-van, but weird tax-regulations made the only available van that was large enough extremely expensive (U$105.000,=)
But... there is always Plan B.

Birthday wishes
Birthday wishes Today is my birthday and just like when I was a young lad and had to treat candy to all kids in the school-class, it was now the local monks that got my eatables.

I had to get up at 6 and brush my teeth even before I had my breakfast. Then wait outside, on the side of the road and ambush a monk that was passing by, oblivious of my intentions.

Well, as you can see in this photo... it worked.
In return the monk blessed me and told me I would be lucky throughout the day.
Hmmmmm... later that day I failed my driving-licence exam
